At Mississippi State University, our commitment to student success and well-being extends far beyond the classroom. The newly revamped MS State Online Orientation exemplifies this dedication, fostering a strong sense of belonging for our online students. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by online learners, we meticulously designed this orientation to ensure every student feels connected, supported, and integral to the Bulldog family from day one.
The orientation experience begins with a warm, personalized welcome from our university leaders, emphasizing the core values of community and support that define Mississippi State. MS State Online Orientation consist of four modules:
- Module 1. Welcome to MS State Online: Where You Matter. This module will introduce you to Mississippi State University and help you request your MSU ID.
- Module 2. Your First Semester Blueprint: Learning What Matters. This module focuses on critical first steps and the technology needed for you to be successful in your first semester.
- Module 3. Our University Resources: Connecting to What Matters. This module introduces you to the variety of resources available to you as a student at Mississippi State.
- Module 4. Be a Bulldog Forever: Taking Care of What Matters. This module will conclude orientation and help you feel supported and excited as you start your journey as a member of the bulldog community.
These module names refer to our university motto: Taking Care of What Matters.
We included several MSU surprises throughout the course, such as animated Bully gifs, MSU trivia, and historic videos to enhance engagement and participation. These elements add a fun, interactive dimension, keeping students intrigued and motivated.
In addition to fostering a sense of belonging, our orientation equips students with the practical tools and knowledge for academic success. Comprehensive tutorials on our learning management system and detailed overviews of academic and support services ensure students are well-prepared and confident as they embark on their educational journey.
The revamped MS State Online Orientation stands as a testament to our commitment to inclusivity, community, and student success. By focusing on belonging, we ensure that every student, regardless of their location, feels valued, supported, and ready to thrive at MS State Online.
