Master's Program

Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering

  • Thesis option: 24 hours of coursework and 1 hour of graduate seminar are required along with 6 hours of thesis research. Of these 24 hours, up to 6 hours of “Directed Individual Study” courses can be included. A thesis and a final oral exam are required.
  • Non-thesis option: 30 hours of coursework and 1 hour of graduate seminar are required. Of these 30 hours, up to 6 hours of “Directed Individual Study” courses can be included. An oral presentation is required.

Prerequisites

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

OR

  1. Graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering must either have or obtain an undergraduate foundation in solid mechanics and thermal sciences.
  2. Graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree in science must demonstrate the mastery of content of the undergraduate ME program courses up through the senior courses in mechanical systems design and energy systems design.
