Licensure & Endorsements
Students in the MAT-S program may apply for the initial license upon completion of the initial licensure coursework and after receiving official passing score reports for the CORE/ACT and Praxis II content area exams.
MAT-S students may apply for the 5 year renewable license upon completion of the Dimensions of Learning internship.
All students apply for the initial license, 5 year license, and/or supplemental endorsements online using the Mississippi Department of Education online licensure system (ELMS) located at myMSDOE Single Sign On System. To create an account and apply for your license, follow the ELMS Instructions. Students will also need to complete the Alternate Route Licensure information form and submit it to Susan Steward or Katrina Miller by e-mail to email@example.com or fax to 662.325.7857. If you are faxing then please put Attention: MATS.
We are no longer able to place students in Georgia for an internship. Residents living in the state of Georgia will not be eligible to teach in Georgia
It is possible to add other subject areas (called endorsements) to 3 year nonrenewable and 5 year renewable licenses. Most endorsements may be added by either having 21 credit hours in the content area or by passing the Praxis II for that area. For more information on endorsements, visit the Office of Clinical/Field-based Instruction and Licensure website or contact Laura Kate Watts-Tribble, Licensure Specialist, at 662.325.2206.
