Program Structure

The online Master of Professional Accountancy (MPA) and online Master of Taxation are designed to provide the same faculty, instruction, assignments, and exams as students in our on-campus programs. Working professionals will benefit from the same quality education with the flexibility and convenience of attending from their home or office, full-time or part-time! Either program may be completed in as little as twelve months.

Students enrolled in either program are to adhere the following to successfully complete and earn the degree:

  1. A student must complete the required curriculum and a minimum of 30 graduate semester hours.
  2. A student must have no more than 6 hours of C grades on program coursework.
  3. A student must achieve a 3.00/4.00 GPA on graduate accounting work attempted.
  4. A student must achieve a 3.00/4.00 GPA on all graduate work attempted at MSU after being admitted to the degree program.

Please note, students enrolled in any graduate degree program in the College of Business may not continue with grades below B in more than 6 hours of program coursework, regardless of the overall average.

A minor in Accounting Data Analytics is available in either program.

For those who have an undergraduate degree in Business but lack the necessary prerequisites to get admitted to the program, the following courses are available online:
