Approval Process


All courses, programs, minors, certificates, or items moving online are required to go through the University Committee on Courses and Curricula (UCCC); some items may also require the additional approval of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL). CDE has many resources available to departments and faculty to aid them in the navigation of moving their online courses, programs, or other items through both of these processes. Trained staff have advanced knowledge of both UCCC and IHL workflow and required paperwork as it specifically pertains to online learning.


CDE works in conjunction with the Registar's Office to help faculty move their courses and curriculum online. Faculty can consult an in-house specialist concerning:

  • Assistance with paperwork and course proposals
  • Guidelines
  • Rules and regulations
  • Dates and Deadlines

Faculty are encouraged to meet with CDE staff before submitting any course proposals or other paperwork. Consultations can be scheduled with individual faculty or entire departments, and events may be scheduled on the request of the department.


CDE offers free timelines to all departments and faculty interested in moving programs and courses online. Timelines are developed:

  • With the unique needs of individual departments and faculty in mind
  • With all components of moving a course or program online taken into consideration

Departments and faculty may request as many timelines as needed for their goals. Timelines may be more or less detailed at the request of the department.


CDE tracks all courses, programs, or other items moving online. We can inform you of the processes and help faculty and departments track items or can track items for faculty and departments as an additional service. CDE will inform all interested parties when courses, programs, or other items have been fully approved.
